Minnesota United 2–2 Austin FC: Ramirez Breaks Hearts at Allianz

Allianz Field had everything Sunday night: missed penalties, golazos, momentum swings, and the emotional return of Christian Ramirez.

Austin struck first in the 14th minute via penalty. Minnesota spent the half chasing the game and collecting yellow cards. Kelvin Yeboah had a chance to level from the spot, but his retake hit the crossbar. The Loons walked into halftime needing a reset.

James Rodríguez changed everything in the second half. The moment he stepped on the pitch, Minnesota stopped rushing and started controlling. In the 69th minute, Rodríguez floated a feather-soft cross to Anthony Markanich, who headed it home. Game on.

Eight minutes later, a slick give-and-go between Rodríguez and Joaquín Pereyra sliced Austin open — Pereyra curled a beauty into the far post for 2–1.

Then, fútbol being fútbol: in the 79th minute, a loose ball ping-ponged into the box and Ramirez pounced — one touch, created space, buried the equalizer. No celebration. Just respect. Allianz applauded anyway.

Minnesota pushed late, and Drake Callender made a key diving save in stoppage time to preserve the point. The Loons walk away frustrated but unbeaten.

Wolves Feed Off Target Center Energy as Ant Takes Over

Naz cooked off the bench, McDaniels locked up, and Wemby's ejection flipped the whole game.

Minnesota needed a response. They delivered one with swagger, physicality, and playoff urgency.

The night turned on one moment: Victor Wembanyama's ejection. Two quick technicals — including a frustrated swipe at Naz Reid's neck — sent the 7'4" phenom to the tunnel. The momentum shifted instantly. Minnesota inhaled the chaos and turned it into fuel.

With Wemby gone, the Wolves attacked the paint. Anthony Edwards stepped into full takeover mode — downhill drives, step-backs, pull-ups — but more than the buckets, it was his leadership. He barked switches, demanded pace, and set the tone for the building.

Naz Reid followed with a cult-hero performance. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year came off the bench like a spark plug — rim attacks, hustle plays, blocks, put-backs. Every time the Spurs tried to claw back, Naz slammed the door.

Jaden McDaniels handled the rest. He hounded ball-handlers, erased driving lanes, and turned San Antonio's wings into frustrated bystanders — then knocked down timely threes and attacked closeouts on the other end. One of the league's most underrated two-way playoff weapons.

San Antonio didn't fold. Devin Vassell kept them afloat with tough shot-making, and Keldon Johnson brought relentless energy attacking gaps. But without Wemby's gravity, the offense lost its rhythm.

Minnesota's defense tightened in the fourth, turning rebounds into transition buckets. Ant closed like a superstar, Naz iced the final run, McDaniels locked the perimeter. This wasn't survival. It was a statement.
