How Birds of a Feather Flock Together

There’s an old adage that says birds of a feather flock together, and in the Twin Cities, that truth is alive and soaring. Sure, Minnesota is known for its iconic Loons, but lately there’s been another bird sighting in the metro. One that doesn’t glide across lakes or grace state logos… but one that flies just as proudly. The Crows of Minneapolis City SC, the most community-rooted, culture-driven, and unapologetically authentic club in the North- continue to defy the odds and rewrite what winning looks like.

While the Loons dominate headlines, the Crows dominate hearts. They’ve built something rare: a club where supporters don’t just cheer, they belong. A club where players aren’t just athletes- they’re neighbors, mentors, and local legends. And as Minneapolis City SC marches into the 2026 season, the energy feels different. Bigger. Bolder. Destined.

A major part of that shift comes from the arrival of Head Coach Jon Forsythe, who stepped into the role for the 2026 season with a résumé that speaks for itself. Fresh off a dominant run at Olivet Nazarene University, where he led the program to a perfect 13–0 conference record, swept both the regular-season and tournament titles, and earned the 2025 CCAC Coach of the Year honor, Forsythe brings a winning pedigree and a modern tactical mind. But more importantly, he brings roots. Minnesota roots. Returning home with his family, Forsythe made it clear he’s here to elevate the region’s best young players and build on the club’s already storied history.

His philosophy fits Minneapolis City like a glove: high-tempo pressing, expressive attacking play, and a commitment to developing local talent. Early sessions have shown a squad buying in, pushing each other, and embracing a system built for both entertainment and results.

And when you talk about Minneapolis City legends, two names always rise to the top: Justin Oliver and Will Kidd.

Justin Oliver, the electric forward with a nose for goal, became one of the most dangerous attacking threats in club history. His pace, creativity, and ability to flip a match in a single moment made him a nightmare for defenders and a fan favorite for years. Oliver didn’t just score- he inspired. His legacy still shapes the attacking mentality of the club today.

Then there’s Will Kidd, the heartbeat of the Crows. A relentless winger with endless motor and unmatched passion, Kidd embodied everything Minneapolis City stands for. He pressed, he created, he battled, and he connected with supporters in a way few players ever do. His leadership and work rate set the standard for what it means to be a Crow.

Now, with Forsythe at the helm, a refreshed roster, and a community that shows up rain or shine, the Crows are poised for another breakout season. The supporters feel it. The players feel it. The city feels it.

Because when birds of a feather flock together…
they don’t just fly- they hope to fly higher than anyone expects.
