¡Vamos Vikings!
Minneapolis, 10.4.26- The Minnesota Vikings aren’t just celebrating Latino Heritage Month- they’re living it, bringing cultura directly into the heart of the Twin Cities. This weekend, the team unveiled a stunning 8‑by‑20‑foot ¡Vamos Vikings! mural inside the U.S. Bank Stadium Skyway, created by celebrated Latino artist Cadex Herrera. It’s more than artwork; it’s a cultural landmark.
Herrera, born in Belize and now a proud Minnesotan, has built a reputation for vibrant, community‑rooted storytelling. His work appears across the metro- from the Minneapolis Institute of Art to St. Paul’s Chroma Zone Festival- but this mural carries a special weight. It’s fútbol americano meeting Latino heritage, Lake Street meeting the West Side, and Minnesota pride meeting the colors, symbols, and corazón of Latino identity.
The mural stretches across the Skyway like a living fresco- bold, rhythmic, and full of movimiento. It captures the pulse of Latino and Hispanic culture against a Twin Cities backdrop, anchored by U.S. Bank Stadium at its center. It’s a visual bridge between neighborhoods, histories, and the fans who bring sabor and pasión to Vikings fandom.
The Vikings creative team wanted authenticity- not a corporate gesture, but a community‑rooted collaboration. Herrera’s passion, his connection to Latino culture, and his genuine love for the Vikings made him the perfect partner. From concept to composition, he worked hand‑in‑hand with the organization, and even invited members of Adelante, the Vikings Latino employee resource group, to join him in painting the mural. That moment- brushes in hand, cultura in motion- symbolized exactly what this project stands for: unity.
For Herrera, the mural is an honor and a responsibility. He hopes Latino and Hispanic fans feel seen, acknowledged, and represented. He wants the mural to spark pride, belonging, and meaningful dialogue- not just as Vikings fans, but as members of Minnesota’s broader community.
And for the Vikings, this mural is a promise: La cultura importa. La comunidad importa. Y el futuro es más fuerte cuando todos están incluidos.
The ¡Vamos Vikings! mural is more than art. It’s a celebration. A statement. A touchdown for cultura.
