MN Vikings Cinderella Team or Bust- 16-10 Win v Colts

USBank Stadium, 10.25.26- Minnesota is 6-0, the NFL’s last unbeaten team, and somehow every Sunday still feels like a fourth-quarter escape room. The Vikings beat Indianapolis 16-10 without fireworks, style points or even a third-quarter score. This is Cinderella football with shoulder pads: the carriage is Brian Flores’ defense, the glass slipper is Will Reichard’s right leg, and the offense keeps arriving fashionably late.

Reality bites

The imbalance is impossible to miss. Minnesota managed 275 yards, went 3-for-11 on third down and produced one touchdown. Kyler Murray completed 14 of 24 passes for 150 yards, one score and no interceptions. Functional? Yes. Frightening? Not yet. His best play came with his legs: a 35-yard fourth-quarter scramble that cracked open the game and positioned T.J. Hockenson for the go-ahead five-yard touchdown catch.

Jordan Mason brought necessary muscle with 68 yards on 15 carries. Justin Jefferson caught four passes for 44 yards, while Hockenson added four for 35 and the touchdown. Jauan Jennings supplied two catches for 34 yards. The Vikings moved in flashes, not waves; every possession felt one missed block or mistimed throw from stalling.

Then the defense turned the dome into a panic room. Blake Cashman detonated Indianapolis’ rhythm with 12 tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss and four passes defended. Dallas Turner joined a four-sack effort, and Minnesota held Daniel Jones to 108 passing yards. The Colts owned possession and converted 8 of 15 third downs, yet scored nothing after halftime.

Reichard’s 28- and 47-yard field goals kept Minnesota breathing before halftime. His 52-yarder with 1:39 remaining stretched the lead to six. Harrison Smith delivered the final punctuation, reading Jones and snagging career interception No. 40 to close the door. That is the Vikings’ current identity: squeeze the field, manufacture panic, survive.

Indianapolis Missed Window

Indianapolis had the script and misplaced the ending. Jonathan Taylor gashed Minnesota for 95 yards on 18 carries, including a 38-yard touchdown, while Seth McGowan added 46. But Daniel Jones finished 13-for-22 for 108 yards, took four sacks and threw the fatal interception. Keenan Allen led the receivers with only 31 yards. Spencer Shrader missed two field goals, leaving six precious points on the turf. Up 10-6 at halftime, the Colts never scored again Sunday.

Coaches Reaction

Kevin O’Connell celebrated the resilience, Smith’s closer instinct and Cashman’s chaos, but the subtext was obvious: Minnesota cannot keep asking its defense to pitch near-shutouts. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores again had answers after halftime. Murray stressed improving the run game. The win counted cleanly; the offensive tape will not lie.

VyD Next Game Prediction

Detroit is the reality check. Minnesota’s pressure package can bother the Lions, but Ford Field punishes empty possessions. Expect a sharper Murray and more Jefferson targets, yet Detroit’s offensive depth finally tests the magic. Prediction: Lions 24, Vikings 20. Cinderella keeps the invitation, but the perfect record stays behind in Motown. Hope we are proven wrong. VAMOS VIKINGS! SKOL!
